6 Weekend Wedding Itinerary Activities For Your Guests
That extra quality time you spend with friends, family, and guests during a weekend wedding is truly unforgettable. It creates core memories that you and everyone who attends looks back on again and again.
During a multi-day wedding, there will always be at least one day that many guests are gathering for the first time. When two families, especially extended family who may not have met before, are getting to know each other, planned activities is a must!
Having a weekend wedding itinerary gives others direction, eases any unknowns, and creates intentional interaction. So, we’ve made planning quicker by offering some great activities for you to do that are close by the wedding venue.
Some are only a few minutes away and ALL are great group activities so you can take advantage of that memory-making time!
Six Activities to Add to Your Weekend Wedding Itinerary
Whether it is an outdoor adventure, a creative experience, or just spending time in nature, you can use these activities to create a specific itinerary. You could also give guests a mini selection menu in case they want to explore the area on their own during the day, while the wedding party has other specific activities.
Add elements of nature to your multi-day wedding itinerary.
Take a hike on the Pend Oreille Bay Trail.
Indulge yourself in gorgeous views of Lake Pend Oreille while you take a walk along this easy, clear trail. Just 30 minutes north of the venue, this trail starts near downtown Sandpoint’s city beach.
It’s a great activity to get people moving and talking, plus it’s easy to combine with a picnic or brunch at one of the local restaurants. The trail is almost 1.5 miles one way, but there are benches along the path and you can, of course, turn back at any time so it fits your schedule.
Fun fact: It’s the largest lake in Idaho and the 5th deepest in the entire United States. And yes… they do submarine testing in this lake!
Explore Farragut State Park.
Farragut is our beloved state park that will provide you with beautiful trails, calming forest scents, and stunning views of Lake Pend Oreille when you visit. Play a round of disc golf with your group, swim, fish, hike, bike, or picnic. Farragut was originally a World War II-Era naval training station and a visit to the museum to learn its history is a great activity too.
Add adventure to your weekend wedding itinerary.
Enjoy the thrill of Silverwood Amusement Park.
Add a flavor of old-school amusement-park-fun with a day at Silverwood. This park is well-known throughout the Pacific Northwest and has been a staple of North Idaho for over 50 years. It started as an Old West theme park, but has grown to include over 7 roller coasters, a water park with 2 wave pools and slides, 70+ rides, magic shows, and so much more. Be sure to enjoy the train ride together—with or without the Silver Mine Shootout Show! It really is fun for the whole family— or in this case, the whole wedding party.
Experience the Tree to Tree Adventure Park.
Ready to put your group to the test? (Just kidding—it’s fun!) Book a challenge course or zipline adventure at the Tree to Tree Adventure Course and bring your group together in a way you might not have imagined before. This treetop aerial adventure has a range of activities and booking it as “Team Building” will help you personalize it for your wedding party, family, and guests! This is definitely an out-of-the-box activity for a weekend wedding, but for the right group… it could add another magical element to the weekend. Plus it’s so close! Located in Farragut State Park, it’s only 20 minutes away.
Add calm and leisure to your weekend wedding celebration.
Take in the calm at Blooming Fields Lavender Farm.
Close to Cider Mountain, there is a picturesque lavender farm — in fact, you pass it on your way to the venue! Depending on the month, you can take a tour of the farm, pick your own lavender, or make a lavender wreath. With a cute shop filled with all things lavender, it’s a fun stop. Plus lavender naturally calms you so it’s perfect for keeping that relaxed and happy feel you want during your multi-day wedding.
Appreciate local life at the Farmer’s Market.
Just 5 minutes from Cider Mountain, this market is located at the city park in downtown Athol. You’ll find local vendors, food, and music every Friday for the Athol Farmer’s Market. It’s held from 2-6 pm and runs from May 1 to the end of September. A great place to shop locally, take in the flair of the area, and relax to live music.
Getting your weekend wedding to come together smoothly is all in the details. Think through each day, how you want people to feel, how YOU want to feel, and then choose the activities that fit.
Your plan doesn’t have to look a certain way or be perfect, but it should show your personality, make you feel good about the gathering, and allow you to create more memories with those you love the most!
